Principal's Message

Dear Familes,

Welcome to the start of a new school year at Albert Schweitzer Elementary School! It is my pleasure to introduce myself as the new interim principal, Kim Callender. With over 25 years of experience in education, including four years as Vice Principal, I have had the privilege of teaching students at both primary and secondary levels, covering subjects such as English, History, Intervention, and ELD. Joining the wonderful Albert Schweitzer community is a true honor, and I am excited to lead our team in providing comprehensive support to our students academically, behaviorally, socially, and emotionally.

As we embark on this journey together, I hope you all had a delightful and rejuvenating summer break. We are looking forward to being back on campus, reconnecting with friends, and creating a year filled with learning and growth. Together, we can ensure that all our Schweitzer students achieve their highest potential in every aspect of their education.

Our dedicated Schweitzer staff has been eagerly preparing for this school year. Teachers have worked diligently to create welcoming learning environments, develop engaging curriculum materials, and establish effective learning and behavior support systems. Meanwhile, our custodial staff has been hard at work ensuring that classrooms are clean and equipped with all necessary furniture and materials. The office and support staff have been organizing materials and are ready to greet you, assist with any inquiries, and support the school community. Additionally, we are orienting both new and returning staff to the unique culture and traditions of Schweitzer to best serve you and your children.

Family involvement is essential for a positive and collaborative community. We hope to engage you in various opportunities throughout the year, including participating in PTA and PTA-sponsored events, contributing to the School Site Council, and volunteering for classroom activities and field trips. We also understand that not all parents/guardians can participate during the school day and appreciate the support and guidance you provide your child at home. Whether it's helping them be prepared, on time, and well-rested each day, reading together, or discussing their day's experiences and accomplishments, your involvement plays a vital role in your child's educational journey.

As your child and family immerse themselves in the positive and engaging experiences we have planned for this year, it is certain to become a year to remember. We are immensely grateful to have you as part of our school family and eagerly anticipate working together to create a successful and enriching school year.
